3 Apps I Love

Below are 3 apps that I just love for improving mental/emotional health. I have used each of these personally and recommend them regularly in my counseling practice.

Simply Being Guided Meditation for Relaxation and Presence by Meditation Oasis

I found this gem years ago and it has served me well many times over.  I've recommended it to countless friends, colleagues, and clients. The speaker's voice is gentle and easy to follow. The meditations don't have that "cheese" factor that can cause newbies to crack up into a fit of giggles. I love that you can choose to hear the speaker's voice over music or nature sounds. Or you can choose to turn off the speaker's voice and just listen to the music/sounds. Since I've been using this app for so long, I am now able to only listen to the music and find the same deep level of meditative relaxation. I often use this app during stressful commutes or flights.

My Mood Tracker by Aspyre Apps

Tracking your moods is a great way to improve them. I like this app for its simplicity. You just choose an emoticon that fits your mood and you're done! If you wish to elaborate, there is a notes section wherein you can briefly journal about your current mood.

Yoga Studio by Modern Lotus

A friend recommended this to me (Hi, Pamela!) and at first, I was skeptical. But now I love it! There are so many great ways to use this app. You can choose from ready-made routines of varying lengths that fit the difficulty level of your choice or you can create your own by selecting your preferred poses. This app also syncs with your calendar so you can schedule workouts. The videos/images are clear and the instructions are easy-to-follow. I love that I can pause on a specific pose to ensure the correct form!
