4 Tips For Surviving The Holidays If You're Going Through A Breakup

Start a New Tradition
If you try to recreate each of your old traditions as a newly single person, you're bound to feel miserable. Instead, start a few new traditions. Invite your best friend over for brunch the day after Christmas, or volunteer at a homeless shelter. These simple actions give your holiday season structure and meaning, but they help you avoid missing the life that once was.

Get Moving
You've heard it a million times before, but that's because it's true: exercise treats everything from heartbreak to anxiety. If you don't know how you're going to get through the next second, let alone the entire holiday season, consider getting up or out and breaking a sweat.

Reach Out
Your loved ones won't know you're struggling if you don't ask for help, and many people going through a breakup are tempted to shutter themselves away. Reach out to loved ones by telling them what you need and asking them to spend some extra time with you.

Create Mini Holidays
Life is better when you have something to look forward to, and that's particularly true when you're hurting. It's up to you to create something to look forward to. Try to create a mini holiday each week. Maybe Sunday is massage day, and Friday is shopping day. The important thing is having something to look forward to, no matter how small.
